A 21st Century Revival

Don’t Call it a Comeback

Finally, a millennial trend we can happily hop on the coat tails of. Whether you’re sporting as a fashion accessory to stop one’s hair being whipped about by the wind in the driver’s seat of a convertible or channeling your inner Hollywood elite, the nostalgic head scarf returns for a 21st century renaissance.

Trends certainly have the habit of coming about like black cabs circling piccadilly or, more appropriately, Rolls Royce’s loitering about New Bond Street. And, whilst we’re all delighted to see the back of hoop skirts and bustles, some fashion fads are worthy of a resurrection.

The print-splashed kerchief swept the streets of London in the 1960s, adorned by the likes of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn who became the poster girls for championing understated elegance with a sort of timeless distinction. Now, to our delight, the nostalgic headwrap makes its semicentennial lap around the sun to grace one’s wardrobe once again.

Whether you’re the type to stroll down Mayfair with a miniature Pomeranian tucked into your Kelly or are more comfortable sitting behind the wheel of a Jaguar roadster, the simple addition of this luxury staple is widely known to transform one’s trappings from ‘drab to fab’ with just the right styling. Well, aren’t you in luck.

With the launch of Penhaligon's new fragrance, Sports Car Club, a beautifully designed silk scarf arrives alongside one's purchase to celebrate its arrival, and this handy guide on how to wear one's new accessory at that.

How to Style a Silk Scarf

Step 1:

Wrap around the neck and centre to the front to tie with ease.

Step 2:

Tie in a casual knot to show just how non-cholent you are (even though you've already changed outfits twice this morning)

Step 3:

Position the scarf slightly askew to achieve a chic style that says you're just as suited to the racetrack as you are strolling down Mayfair.
