Good for: Theatre, contemporary dining, post-theatre tipples
Covent garden is theatre before curtain call. All cobbles and crescendos, velvet seats and violins tuning somewhere just out of sight. Beneath the grand glass canopy of the historic market, buskers belt bravely, florists flourish, and the scent of street food swirls through the air like an encore.
NEAL'S YARD
Turn the corner and…colour. Turmeric yellow. Lavender blue. Balconies tumbling with green. It’s a courtyard that feels whispered about, then suddenly discovered. Independent cafes hum, holistic hideaways beckon. You could quite simply lose an afternoon here (and possibly find a new ritual or two). Sun-drenched and slightly bohemian – Covent Garden’s quieter flourish.

AVE MARIO
Bold. Buoyant. Gloriously Italian.
High ceilings, high spirits and pizza that arrives blistered and brazen. It’s maximalism with mozzarella. Order something indulgent. Pour something sparkling. Let the laughter carry.
Covent Garden may be steeped in tradition, but it knows how to twirl a fork with abandon.

ROYAL OPERA HOUSE
Red velvet, gilt balconies, and the sort of hush that falls like silk before the first note is sung. Legends have graced this stage: among them Maria Callas, who once, so the story goes, kept a handkerchief spritzed with Penhaligon's very own Hammam Bouquet by the edge of the stage, its familiar scent guiding her back to the wings after the curtain fell.
Fast-forward to now, and La Bohème plays throughout July whilst Kenneth MacMillan’s devastating ballet Manon takes to the stage this autumn. Bincolars at the ready, if you please.

CHOOSING KEEPING
For those who adore stories as much as Penhaligon's, Choosing Keeping is a treasure trove. Fountain pens that glide. Notebooks bound like secrets. Wax seals, inks, ribbons, all arranged with reverence. It is a shop for the romantically inclined and the delightfully meticulous.
Go in for a card. Leave with a renewed commitment to correspondence.

NOMAD LONDON
Nomad London is what happens when grandeur loosens its tie.
Housed in the former magistrate’s court, it hums with candlelight and quiet confidence. High ceilings. Plush corners. A bar that invites whispers.
Stay the night or simply stay for a cocktail and observe. Covent Garden does elegance well, Nomad London does is with a knowing smile.
PENHALIGON'S COVENT GARDEN
While you’re wandering, do step into Penhaligon’s on Wellington Street. Our oldest boutique, no less, where heritage hangs as elegantly as the chandeliers. Just around the corner, our Covent Garden Piazza store awaits, perfectly poised amid the market’s bustle. Two addresses. One very well-scented welcome.

THE WHO'S WHO OF LONDON
Between the colonnades of the old market and the glow of theopera house, The Bewitching Yasmine moves like perfume through the crowd. Street performers pause, and even the air seems to watch her.
She’s not seeking love. She’s selecting her future.
LONDON, OUT LOUD
