"BLUEBELL INSTANTLY TRANSPORTS YOU TO A BRITISH WOODLAND, SURROUNDED BY DRIPPING LEAVES, SKIN TINGLING WITH SPRING."
It's a perfume from the 70s but it also smells like it's from the future. There's a beautiful dissonance to the florals.

Bluebell Eau De Toilette
I was curious about this fragrance having read that Princess Diana wore Bluebell! Also, I was searching for a lovely, floral scent that isn't cloying. At first whiff I found Bluebell to be a heady bouquet, and a bit overwhelming. The hyacinth (nicknamed bluebells) settles however into a gentle floral that reminds one of gardenia. There is a slight earthiness to it, which I suspect is the clove. It translates on me as a woodsy scent rather than spicy. I don't pick up the citrus notes as a distinct lemon or such, but rather simply as a note of freshness. As the day goes on Bluebell wears as a lovely, soapy fresh, woodsy floral that I fell in love with and have worn every day since. For reference I would call this a sophisticated floral. I believe it is not meant to be your sultry perfume for a special evening but rather your feminine, (albeit casual or sophisticated), everyday scent. The combination of the hyacinth with the soapy and woodsy notes is quite beautiful and sets it apart from the typical floral fragrance. This will be a permanent part of my fragrance wadrobe.

Mystery Solved
I selected Bluebell because, perhaps like many, wanted to try the favorite fragrance of iconic women that were known to favor this eau de toilette. When it arrived and I opened the bottle, it smelled vaguely familiar. It stayed the same when sprayed on my skin. It kept nagging me where I had experienced the fragrance profile before. It wasn't until discovering some creepy crawlies in the home and purchasing a can of spray to eliminate them, that I realized what Bluebell smells like. It is a pesticide spray odor. Perhaps it is a pesticide only used in the United States, because certainly it gets great international reviews. Sadly, for me, it's simply isn't a fragrance I can wear. Very disappointed because for me it was a bit of a splurge. I think I will take advantage of a Penhaligon's Discovery set next time, as it's sure to include a soon to be signature scent for me.

Bluebell products missing
My introduction to Penhaligons was 26 years ago on vacation in London. I purchased a small bottle of perfume, a large bottle of the eau de toilette, and a container of body powder. In 2026, at the Covent Garden shop I was advised it was better to buy two 50 ml bottles rather than one 100ml to prevent it from aging since I like to use different fragrances. I love this fragrance but am frustrated I can no long purchase the 50 ml bottles, the perfume rather than the eau de toilette, and the supporting products such as body lotion, talcum and soap are no longer available. I would hope the marketing folks would read these comments and reconsider reversing their decision to limit options for their customers to enjoy Bluevell.

Bluebell woods
Totally transports you to the unique perfume of fresh woodland bluebells. Quite amazing. On me the scent doesn’t last more than a couple of hours sadly, but initially it’s gorgeous. Will definitely be buying again.

From conversations with my sister she said she wanted Princess Diana's perfume. So for no reason I placed this order, hope she'll like it. Hahahahaha
