I'd had a 5ml tester of this fragrance some months before, when it first came out. I'd liked it as it was a bit different in the Penhaligon's range. I came across it again on holiday in the Penhaligon's shop in the Perfumery on the top floor of the Dubai Mall. I showed it to my wife and daughter, expressing how I liked it and to gauge their reaction. I went on to buy the A Balm of Calm fragrance but my daughter must have committed it to her memory because on Christmas Day morning, I opened a box which had the Penhaligon's logo inside, to find a wonderfully wrapped bottle of Solaris inside. A present from my wife and daughter, who told me that she remembered that I'd like it three months ago on holiday in Dubai. Now this is no shrinking violet, it confidently projects across the room and if that's your thing, then fill your boots. You might have thought with the name Solaris and its yellowy gold colour that it is a Summer fragrance but I've worn today on a cold winters day, here in the UK and it has confidently given me a warm glow. On my pale, Northern European skin, it has good longevity. It is at its peak from the initial spray upto 3-4 hours and I can just about still smell it on my skin 12 hours later. I would label it as I powerhouse fragrance, up there with Halfeti and Sartorial and somehow, I've ended up with all three now, in my Penhaligon's collection. Thankfully, others like Endymion, Juniper Sling, Blenheim Bouquet and A Balm of Calm, calm things down a bit in my collection. Overall, if it is instant confidence that you need, then Solaris is there for you but you need to wear it well.

i was at the airport trying to find a scent for the summer and came accross this! i was dumbfounded at how natural and beautiful this scent came across. as if when you're wearing it people can't tell if it's a perfume or you naturally smell like a fruit garden~!

We definitely get the scents of fresh and juicy Blackcurrant, citrus lemon, and neroli mix blooming from the start. Within around 2-3mins time, it quickly turns into a white floral sort of scent, ylang-ylang and tiare flower are dominant here with blackcurrant laying at the back. We could not scent the vanilla but cedarwood and sandalwood are both laying quietly. A very enjoyable unisex summer fragrance for sure and considering this is a special edition perfume being made in Spain instead of England from Penhaligon's collection. Imagine yourself on holiday walking under the sun in heated Spain and Italy...or on the field in the vineyard during the grape harvest period. Spray on clothes and it should linger for half a day. Lively and sunshine in a bottle!

Just received my bottle of Solaris and I can see this is going to become my new favourite! Its light and fresh but also has a gentle woody undertone that makes it feel warm and comforting. Just absolutely lush!
