Description
Originating from The Original. A compliment to time passed. Inspired by the Turkish baths of Jermyn Street Mayfair, which from which William Penhaligon first found inspiration: Hammam Bouquet, created in 1872.
When trimming, amongst others, the Shah of Persia’s beard in 1871, William Penhaligon esteemed barber was fond of using a splash of eau de toilette. Hammam Bouquet was his first creation. The beginning of a long and remarkable story in smell. Ever since it has taken pride of place in the House’s ever expanding library of scents - the first, and the most daring of orientals.
Indeed, wearing Hammam Bouquet, whilst clothed at best in a bath robe - one is sure to be underdressed! This is a bold concoction, luxurious, worn by men of distinction not shy of leaving an impression, or a fragrant wake. Like all fine things it should not be hurried. Linger over lavender and powdery orris. Inhale the deep rich rose, relax into the sandalwood and musks. Heady and sensual, it is always preferable (don’t you think?) to take one’s time.

Powder! Review
17 September 2017
by FredJ
As anonymous and Anne say, this is very powdery. It didn't seem so when I tried it at the store, but many minutes later, the powder came forward. It...'s a good powdery scent, but that wasn't what I was expecting. It wouldn't matter, except I bought a bottle, based on the scent I could discern in the store. I'll wear it, and I'll like it, but had I known it was this powdery, I would have chosen something else. ... more

Transport Yourself To Olde Constantinople! Review
19 August 2017
by chrisc.
I took a 2-week vacation in Istanbul about 10 years ago. This scent reminds me of the Old City where I was staying, the scent of rose water everywhere..., warm pistachios, apple tea, the spice bazaar, musty mosques and frankincense. The backstory of Hammam Bouquet is fascinating, created in 1872 by William Penhaligon himself, and inspired by the aromas that wafted into his barbershop from the nearby Turkish bath. HB is a rich oriental woody with a rose focus, very sophisticated and old-school. Highly recommend. ... more

Classic Opulence. Review
11 August 2016
by Richard Potter
This is a stunningly beautiful fragrance. I was expecting something a tad bit more skanky and this is a lush, spicy floral couched on a bed of sandalw...ood, cedar, and clean, soapy musk. The rose is first and foremost, but enrobed in gorgeous jasmine, lavender, orris, and carnation. Created in 1892, this is an old-style beauty which has grown on me every time I wear it to become a great love. I have many fragrances from this esteemed house and I enjoy them all, but Hammam Bouquet is my favorite. ... more

Timeless Classic Review
03 October 2014
by David
I first discovered Hammam Bouquet at Penhaligon's shop near Covent Garden in 1980. I bought everything Hammam! I wish Penhaligon's would bring back ...the entire selection: after shave, talc, shampoo, even the scented handkerchiefs. Of all the different fragrances, especially the so-called "designer" ones, Hammam Bouquet stands out far above them as a timeless classic. It is to men's fragrances what No. 5 is to Chanel. Eternal. ... more

Bold, Confident, And Unique Review
17 September 2014
by Patrick Geary
If your goal is to smell like every other man and fade into the faceless crowd, look elsewhere. With Hammam Bouquet, you will make a bold and compelli...ng statement. It is lush, sensuous, and forthright. It adds class and distinction to your persona, and exudes classicism and confidence. I wore it at my wedding and always splash some on when I want to be at my very best. Created by Mr. Penhaligon himself, it remains untouchable among the pantheon of truly great men's fragrances. ... more

Genies Of Luxury And Yet Chummy Sanctum. Review
02 April 2014
by anonymous
Hammam has been my inner sanctum of scent for very many years, and never fails to summon up the genies of rich Turkish rose and sharp sandalwood as be...fits the furnishings suggested by its name.
Both my first and latest passport into Penhaligon's luxury and yet somehow chummy world. ... more
