HOW DID YOU START IN PERFUMERY?

My passion for perfumery began when I was a child. I remember my first scent memory from a trip to Mayotte when I was five, where I smelled ylang-ylang for the first time. Much later, I was lucky enough to be trained at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) by Anne Flipo, which is the chance of a lifetime.

WHAT IS YOUR PERFUME STYLE AND WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS YOU USUALLY LIKE TO WORK WITH?

My perfume style revolves around creating a dialogue between raw materials. I believe in the musicality of olfactory notes and the quest for the perfect accord. I often work with ingredients such as vetiver, peppermint, basil, cypress: these ingredients are closely associated to my memories and they bring a unique character to my creations.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE CUT?

The Cut is inspired by the history and heritage of Savile Row, and the fine art of bespoke British tailoring. I wanted to embody the essence of modern British tailoring, which is both smart and traditional with unexpected modern elements.

WHAT DID THE PROCESS INVOLVE AND HOW DID IT CHANGE OVER TIME?

The process involved exploring various raw materials and finding the right combinations to create a scent that embodies the essence of Savile Row. The fragrance aims to evoke the feeling of bespoke craftsmanship and sophistication with a modern twist.

HOW DOES THE FRAGRANCE EVOLVE ON SKIN?

The Cut fragrance evolves beautifully, revealing different facets over time. It starts with a fresh and vibrant opening of peppermint, followed by a rich and complex heart of clary sage and cypress, and finally settles into a warm and sophisticated fir balsam base.
