Superb, One Of The World'S Great Fragrances Review
I think this is one of the finest fragrances in operation they have moved it about a bit during the years, but it still has the unique quality of a gr...eat eau de toilette in the graceful contrast between freshness and warmth. The handling of tomato and mint on the upper notes, through to geranium (which I adore and works so well here) has been more powerfully stated, for example in Dominique Ropion's fairly new and wonderful Geranium, but this fragrance has more complexity - this due to the very clever combination of bases. I cannot recommend this too highly.  ... more

Delightful Fragrance Review
This is a delightful fragrance, neither too light nor too heavy, and suitable for all occasions. It lasts a reasonable time helped, for those who have... a dry skin, by first applying a little moisturiser (a useful tip which I was given at the Wellington Street branch). Although described as a gentleman's fragrance, it should appeal to the ladies as well. I recommend it without hesitation.  ... more

Great! (And Very Exquisite!) Review
Bertrand Duchaufour's work is faithful to the facts: Esprit du Roi (in addition to Lothair and Sartorial) closely matches expectations. Esprit du Roi ...is complex in its own way, with a very successful mix between green, citrus and woods, in addition to a "British" trait. In fact, the perfume has uniqueness! Great for the summer, working very well at night. It's a good longevity, but a discreet projection! In that case, as a suggestion, I would make the projection of Esprit du Roi (low) and Sartorial (high) equal to the projection of Lothair (balanced). In Penhaligon's house, the works of Bertrand Duchaufour are the most pleasing to me! (In addition to these three fragrances, I also have or had English Fern, Bayolea, Opus 1870, Blasted Heath and No. 33). And a message for Penhaligon's: be present in Brazil!  ... more

Ambitions Of Becoming Royalty? Step 1: Buy Esprit Du Roi Review
A glorious and emotionally stirring perfume that blends the everyday with the sublime and majestic. It's homely side I find in green and woody frond...s of scent that run throughout the duration of the perfume. They evoke my grandfather's greenhouse in mid-summer that was always full of tomato plants. In contrast to this familiar side there is a regal pomp to the fragrance. The vegetative side is lit up by an almost indescribable lightness as though sunbeams are dancing through the leaves of the various plants at once making them resplendent in their own beauty. Every note in 'Esprit du Roi' is crowned as royalty in this eau de toilette, as is anyone who wears it. This is not fit for a king it is a king maker!   ... more

Tried It, Loved It, Don'T Go Out Without It.. Review
I stumbled upon this scent whilst browsing in the Covent Garden Penhaligon's Store and was instantly hooked.. I'm already a brand fan, owning and regu...larly wearing Opus, Endymion and Bayolea, but in Esprit de Roi, have found something vibrant, fresh, light enough to wear without overpowering, yet masculine and with depths that develop when worn. It always draws compliments from friends, co-workers and strangers and is in a different league to the high street, the generic and the mass-produced. I plan to always stay well-stocked!  ... more
