  • Created in 2005, Opus 1870 is a complex and elegant woody chypre. Opening with a luxurious accord of sweet citrus and fiery black pepper, the heart is lit by the delicacy of English Clove Rose and evocative incense. The base notes are glorious, smoky waves of aromatic cedarwood and sandalwood. Opus 1870 is wonderfully warm and comforting, a fragrance to wrap yourself in on cold winter nights.

    • Understated But Forceful
    • by Jelle
    • I love opus. Its a subtle fragrance, but strong. It is never overpowering, but always there. You'll miss it when you are not wearing it. Like Rolls Royce used to say to people informing about the horsepower of the car "enough", This perfume is for those That don't need to show off. They get things done. Subtle but forceful.

    • Once you smell Opus 1870, you won't forget it. A perfectly blended and undeniably masculine fragrance, Opus 1870 will leave everyone you meet while wearing it wondering what the amazing cologne you're wearing is called. The two most detectable notes, to me at least, is the masculine, woody cedar note, and the sensual and bold black pepper note. And let me tell, those are the only two notes you'll ever need. A must buy!

    • Absolute Best

    • I have never had anyone stop me to ask what fragrance I was wearing, that is until I discovered the Opus 1870. Whenever I go out wearing this I can usually count on a compliment or two. I love this fragrance and will be my go-to scent for years to come.

    • Pure Sex

    • I am not a man who normally wears cologne, or any scents for that matter, but this is the first one to make me change my mind. It's masculine, but delicate, and evolves subtly as it's worn. It's not cloying like most colognes, or overpowering, rather it embraces you. I can't recommend this to anyone as I don't want anyone to smell like me. Except women, women who wear this make me weak-kneed.

    • This is a fabulous after shave that isn't overpowering. The scent lasts a long time and doesn't diminish. Shame Penhaligons are no longer offering the aftershave products.

    • A Classic
    • by Benjamin
    • If you are torn between getting something that is a traditional scent or something a bit more modern Opus is an excellent place to start. I gave this as a gift to a friend who "wasn't really into cologne" and he LOVED it. Wears it every day. It's masculine but not heavy or musky. It's like a more refined version of something out of a barber shop. I highly recommend.
