Elixir opens with eucalyptus, the harmonising hot spices of cardamom, cinnamon and mace. The heart notes massage the senses with the dark magic of Turkish rose and jasmine with a twist of orange. Heat and smoke rise from the base as incense mingles with woods, earthy resins and spices. A touch of vanilla and the hypnotic Tonka bean complete the atmospheric dry-down. Opulent and daring, mysterious and complex, Elixir echoes Hammam Bouquet, created by William Penhaligon in 1872.
Created in 2008, Penhaligon’s Elixir is a sensual experience which enlivens the soul and delights the mind. Breathe deeply and take a journey with us to the hammam. Absorb the myriad of lights and echo of stone; inhale the potent alchemy of rose, spices and woods. Embrace the steam and wrap yourself in Elixir.
In 1872 William Penhaligon created his first fragrance, Hammam Bouquet Extract, a provocative scent, designed exclusively for the Jermyn Street Turkish Baths in the heart of London. Penhaligon’s Elixir 2008 and Penhaligon’s Hammam Bouquet 1872 echo each other across the intervening years; they are both opulent and daring; mysterious and complex with the note of Turkish Rose drawing the link through time.
